Hypnotherapy does involve talking and listening. However it differs from counselling in that it is an ‘interventionist’ approach. An intervention will be prepared by the hypnotherapist based on what the client has discussed and expressed.
Words are key to successful hypnotherapy. We all use words to reinforce our own behaviour, meaning and values. Hypnotherapy works with metaphors, visualisations, hypnotic and post hypnotic suggestions. A hypnotherapist listens to what a client is saying and uses words skillfully to effect positive change.
